Well, it’s official. Liberal Democrats are abandoning President Obama faster than Gatorade dumped Tiger Woods. According to my count, we’re up to five.
Now it’s one thing when the voters say finally say, “Enough!” We saw that boundary set in Massachusetts when the voters dismantled the political legacy cultivated through generations by the Kennedy family. Prior to Scott Brown’s win, a Republican had not been sent to Washington on behalf of Massachusetts voters for 40 years. But it’s another thing altogether when the folks who are supposed to be supporting an overall Democratic agenda abandon the work before it’s done.
The American people have spoken about what we want. I believe Barack Obama is listening and trying to meet the needs. This is why far leftist strategies are not going to work. Times are lean and folks are worried about deficits and jobs and various and sundry nonsense. Now is not the time to ride out some leftist ideology that breaks the backs of the very people it’s intended to help. Just in case you don’t believe me, let me show you what the number 1 trillion dollars looks like: $1,000,000,000,000. We’re going to have to pay someone some multiple of that by the time these shenanigans are over and done.
I have supported and will continue to support Barack Obama. In one sense, I’m yet again angered by the political trickery of the Democrats to abandon him now. But in another sense, it may absolutely what America needs – let’s be out with the old guard and usher in a new era of independent leadership. Leaders who are listening and believe us when we say we’ve had enough.
